Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin are some of the main social media sites that people admit to using on a daily basis but do you know exactly why your customers are likely to check in at some point each day?
A recent study from Global Web Index revealed that Generation Z Internet users are almost as likely to click on their social media account to keep in touch with their social group than to read news/entertainment stories. The data from Global Web Index reveals that 45% of 16-24 year olds visit social media portals to locate interesting and funny content to share.
Social media is an important source for news consumption and entertainment amongst this generation and when combined with the ability to live stream its further allowing the younger generation to live, breathe and sleep social media. When they decide to make a purchase or use a service stats show they are also inclined to source companies online.
Overall the need for a company to embrace social media and have an active, well managed account with relevant and engaging content has never been greater. Generation Z seem to prefer a more passive/purposeful approach to social media so are keen to enter competitions, share content etc but keep their personal information more under wraps.
